MW2 – IWnet examined – Part 1

Infinity Ward recently announced that their upcoming game Modern Warfare 2 would not have dedicated servers. Instead, a service called IWnet is being implemented. What does this mean? As a PC gamer, I examine the various motives behind IW’s decision and the impact that this will have on the PC community. I dident think the whole lobby thing was bad at first, but after there was a hacker in every second server i started to get pissed off. Why did they exclude an option to vote for a kick? Its ridiculous how i have to sit in a server with a hacker. Well at least they did one thing right by going with VAC, because you at least know the hackers gonna get banned sooner or later.

02-07 i ran numerous servers CS 1.3/1.5/1.6 from my home on a dedicated
with a 20/20MB line pr player it was 40-50kbps upload 32players= 1280kbps
1.2MB upload to run a succesfull lag free server i had 1 32player 1 16player and 1 10player console-run with about 5 admins on each fully loaded with plugins
np at all, yes ofc beginning we didnt know how to run but we learn
IW should stuff this sort of random gameplay up were the sun dont shine and release the dedicated, “WE CAN RUN IT BETTER THEN IW”

@xXShadowKenXx erm u DONT need a hack just add one SPECIAL guy as a friend in steam and when that person is ONLINE u join his game and HE makes a Dedicated server for all the people in the server

@dipship123 well, yeah. xbox is populated mainly by annoying little kids. but not everyone is like that, i play xbox but i usually mute everyone when i enter a lobby and only talk with friends because the people i end up playing are usually little kids
i want to go back to PC but none of my friends play PC and upgrading it is gonna be pretty expensive cause it’s getting to be old now =P

- You are always on the same team as your friends if you are in a party.
- Auto assign is the only option.

Single Player was very nice. Multiplayer gameplay is awesome( killstreaks etc), but IWnet just sucks ass. Lately I am never able to join a proper game…with proper game i mean: no cheaters/hackers, no lag, not joining a game thats about to end…

Thank you for this intelligent, well thought out and utterly compelling argument to what has become a shambolic failure on IW’s part.
It’s great to see that someone can compile a persuasive debate for IW’s true motives behind the IWnet plot.
I would LOVE to see Robert Bowling’s response to this video in bullet-point form as this was done. I think you would find him stuttering through some of his old regurgitated responses like a politician caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
